Normal Goat Serum

Normal Serums

Product Overview

The preferred blocking agent for secondary antibodies raised in goats.

Normal Goat Serum (NGS) is the gold standard blocking reagent for immunohistochemistry (IHC) and immunofluorescence (IF) protocols, especially when using goat-derived secondary antibodies.

Collected from healthy goats, this serum is rich in globulins and other proteins that bind to non-specific sites on tissue samples. By pre-incubating samples with NGS, researchers effectively 'mask' sticky sites, preventing the secondary antibody from binding randomly. This results in high-contrast images where only the true target antigen is highlighted.

Key Applications

  • IHC & IF Blocking: Critical for preventing background staining when using goat secondary antibodies.
  • Flow Cytometry: Reduces non-specific binding to Fc receptors on cell surfaces.
  • Assay Stabilization: Improves the shelf-life and stability of enzyme-antibody conjugates.
  • Control Serum: Universal negative control for goat antibody assays.
